All of our shavers are designed and tested to last at least 7 years, giving you the peace of mind that you can continue to enjoy the unique °CoolTec experience for a very long time.

Can you use foams and gels with °CoolTec?
In order to experience the full °CoolTec effect, and benefit from the world’s only alcohol-based cleaning system that hygienically cleans 99.999% of germs, it is important that you do not use any shaving foams, gels or lotions which may act as a thermal insulator, and are not compatible with the alcohol based cleaning solution (and may potentially also damage the device).

How often do I need to change the shaver head?
We recommend replacing all cutter parts every 18 months.

Does the battery have a memory effect as we know it from cell phones or laptops?
No, the Series 5 shavers use a Li-ion battery which has no memory effect. You can recharge it whenever you want and it has a low self-discharge rate (vs. NiMh batteries). Li-Ion batteries are therefore the most powerful and long-lasting batteries available for Braun shavers.

Great looking shaver

Well, I've not used an electric shaver for quite some years as I have very sensitive skin and shaving in the past with an electric shaver tore my skin to shreds. The Braun CoolTec shaver looks really sleek and well build so was very keen to try it. During the first shave, I felt the active cooling technology cool my skin whilst shaving which minimized any irritation. I was pleasantly surprised that my skin didn't feel sore, like usual. The shave was quite close however, maybe not as close as a wet shave but very acceptable.I usually shave most days with a razor however, I will be continuing to use this shaver as my skin feels great. The cleaning system is great, that charges, hygienically cleans and lubricates at the touch of a button. Great for those that are busy! The LED screen is great to monitor the battery status. The Braun CoolTec can also be used as a wet shaver although I've not tried that way yet. This is great as you can use it in the shower. Having 45 minutes of cordless shaving is great as having a cord can get in the way.Best thing so far about the Braun CoolTec is the cooling technology that cools my skin to avoid skin irritation and shaving rash! Brilliant! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

First impressions

The Braun CoolTec arrived on Saturday night which was good timing as I was going out to a wedding that evening. When unpacking the CoolTec the charging cable comes as a Type C outlet only and there was no adapter for the more common Type G outlets found in the UK. This was disappointing however I did have a Type C installed in my bathroom. The 2nd issue was that the cord for the charging cable is very short so I had to use a box on top of my table for the charging unit to reach. To be fair those were the only 2 downsides to the CoolTec, the charging station is modern looking and wouldn't be out of place in a high-tech home. The shave is very good, the best and closeted shave I have had with an eclectic shaver. Normally I would come out all red around the neck from shaving however the cuts were so smooth that my skin was completely clear and clean shaven. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

excellent electric razor

Working in a role that requires me to be clean shaven every day I would look for a shaver that is effective and easy to use.I would highly recommend this product, it takes my just a few minutes every morning to shave with it. This razor is excellent and the finish is as close to a wet shave as I have ever experienced from an electric razor. I have recommended it to colleagues, friends and family. To cool for school

Upon unpacking the Cooltec I have to say I was more than impressed by the look and feel of the unit, undaunted by the plethora of bits and pieces I ploughed on and charged ready for my first tryout. Charging, whilst via a two pin adapter was easy and quick and I was ready to go. I have used a great deal of electric shavers over the years, all of which have left me with a red and painful neck and I was nervous about the results this time. First use was a breeze, the Cooltec, after a bit of persistence, left my face smooth and hairfree. My neck has never felt so good after a shave with an electric razor, smooth and redness free! The cooling strip is a dream, I remember similar claims from other razors but with the Cooltec I was not let down, the cool strip is a lifesaver. I have yet to try cleaning my Cooltec and I have only used it once but I have been throughly impressed to date, tho I am yet to be converted only time will tell [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Braun cooltec shaver ct2

I stopped using electric shavers some years ago as they use to leave my neck red raw with a very unsightly rash,I also thought that the shave was never close enough and I always looked like I had shaved the day before. On seeing the braun cooltec I realised this was right up my street and was more than willing to give it a try.My initial beard growth on the first day of use was about 2 days old(a good amount a of stubble)as I I wanted to give it a proper test, although I had to go over the same areas a few times I eventually got down to a clean shave look.At first I didn't think much of the cooltec but was amazed by how cool it felt on the skin,it really did work.On completion of my first use I had a good clean shave and most importantly,no rash or redness on my neck. The second time I used it was the day after on a minimum growth stubble and it had no problem getting a close shave at the first time of trying. Clean, pain free shave with a fast, stress free easy clean up.

I have always used either a conventional 5 blade razor, the best I could get apparently!Well I gave up on this years ago after razor burn, ingrown hairs, irritation and blood! Instead I opted for a stubble trimmer, which allowed to to control the level of length I wished. Although this did cut down the bleeding, cuts and razor burn, the irritation and upkeep continued to be a hassle. Working a full time job, with a long commute daily, getting up early daily to shave is not something I looked forward to, on top of this, rushing first thing to get it done, whilst the clock ticks down is a recipe for pain and disaster. When I received the Braun °Cooltec Shaver model number CT2CC, I set it up to charge, whilst I read the incredibly simple instructions. My first impression was how impressive it was, not only in appearance, definitely something you wouldn't mind displaying in your bathroom, but also the overall sturdiness. Although a little heavy, it does not impede use, if anything it allows you to apply slight pressure to achieve a great result, rather than having a light razor and needing to apply a great deal of pressure behind the razor to capture the hairs. After fully charged, I used the razor for the first time, I was hesitant as I had some irritation on my face, from my previous shave, however, it did not catch these areas and moved smoothly over my face, capturing not only my longer hairs, but the newly growing hairs.I was very impressed with the final result after approx. 10 minutes of shaving. It did take longer to provide me a clean shave that say that of a conventional razor, however, no irritation, no cuts and no opening of previously damaged skin makes this time worth it.I do have a pretty heavy growth, so usually by the following morning, I would need to shave again, however, it was a good 48 hours before I required a further shave. The sideburn trimmer, found on the back of the razor is a little awkward at first to use, simply due to placement. To use this, you are required to turn the device around so the bulk of the razor can block the sideburn trimmer a little, however, after my first two shaves, I managed fine with this, its all about angles and adjusting the mirror to suit.Cleaning has always been a big bugbear for me, removing foils, tiny brushes, that you always lose and then the excess water that seems to eventually rust the device itself. With the alcohol solution and automatic cleaning found on the base unit, it was a simple case of applying the razor to the easy fit compartment, pressing the button and leaving it to do the job. I was skeptical how clean it would make it, but I was incredibly impressed when I removed it to find it not only smelling fresh, dry, looking great and hair free. The razor does come with a guard to protect the blade/foil and a brush for manual cleaning if desired. The only down side for me, is that you get a clean shave and nothing else, there is no option to adjust the control of length, however, unless you are one that is looking for that, this razor is great. There will obviously be additional costs to continue upkeep of the solution, however, as this keeps your razor 99.9% bacteria free and you are dealing with something coming in close contact with open pores and the occasional spot, it in my eyes would be worth this outlay. The recommendation is for every two months or once it runs out, whichever comes first, so if you compare this to the cost of replacing blades in a conventional razor, it will probably more than justify the cost for the benefit.Overall, I am incredibly impressed with this razor, I would recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin and prone to skin irritation. I have used this dry and wet, and both give a great finish, but my preference is dry as I feel it gives more control on the skin, however, for those with dry skin, they may feel it best to use it wet. The revolutionary new Braun CoolTec Shaver CT2cc.

I often suffer from skin irritation after shaving so being asked to try the new Braun CoolTec CT2cc, designed to minimise the effects of shaving irritation, I thought was an offer too good to refuse. The shaver is advertised as the world’s first shaver with active cooling technology. The active cooling technology part comes from a ceramic cooling element situated in between the cutting blades. This can be controlled separately during use by a cooling control switch. There is a three part cutting system with independently moving cutting foils designed to move with the contours of your face helping to cut hairs growing in different directions. The shaver comes attached with a long hair trimmer to cut and shape longer hair. There is also a travel lock feature on the shaver. When activated it prevents the shaver from being started unintentionally. It comes with a clean & charge station with cleaning solution, a separate charging shell, shaver protection cap and brush. There is no direct point to connect the charger to the shaver without using either the clean & charge station or the charging shell. However, both charging methods come with metal contact points. This allows you to just place the shaver on to the charging unit without having to connect any wires to the shaver. The clean & charge station I thought was a little bulky but it does clean the shaver pretty well and leaves the shaver smelling fresh. The cleaning solution can leave a slight residue; this can be easily wiped off or left to evaporate. The shaver itself has a nice balanced weight to it and feels comfortable in your hand. When turning on the shaver the cooling element requires a few seconds to become effective, but this was not very long and something that was expected. The shaver cuts hair really well and so does not require many passes over the same area. The cooling element works exactly as intended, cooling the skin as the shaver passes over the skin and leaves a slightly cool tingling sensation after you have finished shaving. If your hair is left to grow for a couple of days it also picks up longer hairs with ease. The closeness of the shave is very good and better than my previous shaver. The trimmer is designed to cut and shape longer hair like side burns, and it does this very well. It is quite small in width which provides quite a lot of precision. However, if you are expecting it trim or shape large areas of longer hair you will be disappointed. It is more of a precision trimmer and therefore is smaller than specifically designed beard/stubble trimmers. There is one small negative with this shaver; the Braun 3 series has a lock switch on the foils. The switch when locked drops the front two foils which then allows you to use the remaining foil for precision shaving of hard to reach areas and around the edges of longer hair. This functionality, if the CoolTec had it, would have improved the overall shaving experience. On the whole the Braun CoolTec CT2cc is very good shaver, comparable with previous shavers I have owned and thought very highly of. Price wise I think it is very reasonable for shavers of this kind of standard. Add in the Cooling element which helps to alleviate the burning and itching feeling left post shave, I think this shaver is a must have for anyone with sensitive skin. Great shaver - pity about the travel case

Had this shaver 4 years now so plenty of time to consider the good and bad points.Cooltec - yes it works, one of those features that until you turn it off or use another razor you don't realise the benefits. I have no irritaion with it switched on but when i go to my standby razor (top of the line Phillips rotary# or turn the cooltec off i do get irritation in the neck area. I've not noticed it shortens battery life, i can get 4 or 5 daily shaves with the Cooltec permanently on when on holiday. At home it sits in its clean and charge station permanently.Shave quality - as good as any foil razor i've used #numerous top line Braun units in last 30 years# and as good as the top of the line Philips rotary #but quicker in my experience#Quality - very good, - no issuesClean n charge unit - does its job very well, no issues with the charging contacts reported by other reviewers - just place the razor in correctly and thats its. I do find the cleaning solution to be expensive at some retailers, but there are plenty of online sellers at more realistic pricesBad points ? - the lack of a chrage lead port on the razor itself means you have to use the charging cradle when away from home for more than a few days; a silly design, since there is no room in the 'travel case' to put the power lead or cradle!. In comparison, the Phillips travel case has a charge port in it - soooo much better.Overall a great shaver that does exactly what it claims to do - one of those instances where you don't appreciate the technology #Cooltec# until you buy a razor without it !

Yes, I recommend this product !

Braun Cooltec

Plugged in as soon as it was recieved, to try asap. This is the 2nd Braun I have used. The Braun CoolTec is more impressive, it cuts closer, & is faster to use. I recently tried a competitor razor which had a circular cutter - this irritated my skin straightaway. Braun did not do this at all. It only seems to struggle on my chin.Am looking forward to continuing to use the Braun & am keen to find out how long the blades last & whether the Cooling element is more effective during the summer or winter. The cleaning station is quite quick, reasonably quiet but quite big & bulky. The only reason I am not giving the razor a 5 is because it is bulky & quite difficult to get into some areas like around the nose. Could have done with a travel case.Would definitely recommend to a friend- [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Was this the electric shaver I'd always wished for?

When the chance to get my hands on this shaver came up I jumped at it. I have fancied trying a decent electric shaver but always been put off by the price and the fact when I have tried electric shavers before I was less than impressed.Out of the box it looked great. Really sleek and well designed, I popped it into the charger which gave a reassuring beep.I first used it on a week old stubble, I didn't expect it to work but thought I'd give it a go. As I suspected there was no way it was going to work. I don't think any shaver would have. After getting out my beard trimmer I gave it another go and was pleasantly surprised, it performed much better than I expected and so much better than any electric shaver I'd tried in the past.To my surprise the cooling function could be felt pretty much instantly and was very pleasing. I have tried the shaver quite a lot now and the only minus point I could find with the cooling action was on a really hot day it caused condensation which added a bit of drag to the shaver. After shaving I was very impressed with the job it had done, my face felt pretty smooth and the shaver had done rather well. The only problem I have is some of the hairs on my neck grow very flat and it did miss these.I have always used a wet shaver because I like the results I get. From now on I will be using both, wet shaving now and again then using the electric shaver in between. All in all a very good product indeed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
